Meet, Eat and Sing Hymns
at Bruern Abbey School, Chesterton, near Bicester on Saturday, February 27th 2010 from 2 to 5 pm

with
Dr Gillian Warson

Gillian Warson is a writer, teacher and viola player with a particular interest in hymnody and local history. She has published four books on hymn singing in North Oxfordshire, written a biography of the hymn writer Fred Kaan (Stainer and Bell), and is one of the editors of the excellent HymnQuest program.

She has given papers at conferences in Romania and Canada as well as all over the UK and Ireland, and lectured for Oxford University's highly-regarded Continuing Education programme. In addition, she has run Ministerial triaining courses, given workshops for churches, and broadcasts regularly on the BBC Radio Oxford.

Following very successful events at this delightful and idiosyncratic venue in February 2007 and 2009, we are once again giving members the chance to learn some new music under Dr Warson's expert tuition. At the same time, participants can enjoy the remarkable surroundings of Bruern Abbey School close to the M40 in Oxfordshire, whose panelled Drawing Room with its Steinway grand provides such an excellent venue for singing. Over a splendid tea (Bruern's cordon bleu catering is renowned!), participants can meet friends from other churches as well as committee members, chat about the work of the RSCM, and get fresh ideas for their hymn repertoire.
